Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Pilates moves tend to target the core, although the exercises work other areas of your body as well. You can do Pilates with or without equipment, but no matter what, expect the moves to involve slow, precise movements and breath control.
“It strengthens and stabilizes your core body, which is your foundation, so that you can move efficiently while improving your posture, flexibility, and mobility.” says Harriet, our certified Stott Pilates Instructor.
The most obvious benefit of having a private Pilates class starts from the immediate fact you have the instructor’s undivided attention. Where choices, instructions, explanations of exercises are all tailored for one specific Body and Mind. This can be very helpful for those who have never done Pilates before or are recovering from an injury.
Effects and benefits range from:
1. Better technique in the Pilates method
2. Better execution of exercises
3. Better proprioception (body awareness)
4. Faster progression and results of strength or recovery from injury
5. More care and attention in the body-mind
