Nourish the Land with Gemma Tetley – FREE Community Event
Come and help create our new indigenous food forest with our resident forager, folk herbalist and wild horticulturist Gem Tetley and Alec, a permaculture specialist and wild gardener.
We will be working on a range of tasks that may include….
- Filling nursery beds & mulching existing beds
- Planting edible hedging & creating protection
- Planting fruit bushes and other wild edibles, medicinal and dye plants
- Seed sowing (you can take home your own heirloom pea seeds)
- Making hardwood cuttings
Foraged sanctuary herbal tea will be served.
This will be the first of multiple sessions throughout the year on this exciting wild food project for Broughton.
This special volunteering event has a morning session from 9.30am until 12:30pm and an afternoon session from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. If you would like to volunteer your whole day then please book both sessions. Lunch will be provided at 1pm between the sessions.
This event has been funded by the White Rose Forest through their Trees for Climate programme, part of the Government’s Nature for Climate fund. The White Rose Forest is the Community Forest for North and West Yorkshire, and provides support and funding for woodland creation across the region as well as initiatives that bring people and nature closer together.
