Pilates
Mat Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on strengthening the core muscles, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall body awareness. It is performed on a mat using body weight as resistance, with the incorporation of various movements and positions. The benefits of mat Pilates include core strength, flexibility, postural improvement, body awareness, stress relief, and injury prevention. Pilates targets the deep muscles of the core, including the abdominals, back, and pelvic floor helping to improve stability, posture, and overall strength. Pilates emphasises mindful movement and encourages a better connection between the mind and body leading to increased body awareness and improved coordination. Pilates incorporates breathing techniques and focuses on relaxation, which can help reduce stress and promote an overall sense of wellbeing.
