Body of Infinity: Back2Roots Retreat

in Collaboration with Avalon Wellbeing Centre

Thursday 8 - Sunday 11 August 2019

Back2Roots Retreats is the mutual heart child of Brooke Elliston and Lara Zilibowitz. Inspired deeply by the ancient and authentic teachings of Yoga and Tantra, they aim to induce the kind of open-hearted connection and deep inner listening that lays the fertile grounds for unbridled creativity and joy.

Supported by musician Benny Holloway's stirring and evocative tones. Benny's music is described as sonic acupuncture, penetrating the deepest layers of body and mind, inviting the listener on an introspective journey to the heart.

Through meditative movement, creative expression and divine play, immersed in nature’s most exquisite playgrounds, we can attune to the body’s natural rhythms and innate intelligence, that has known the answers all along.

Join facilitators Lara Zilibowitz and Brooke Elliston for a three-night immersion in the fairytale setting of Avalon Wellbeing Centre, on the majestic and historic grounds of Broughton Hall Estate. Accompanied by live soulful soundscapes by Benny Holloway.

The unique retreat space is set on 3000 acres of beautiful countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. From bathing in wild swimming pools and gathering for sacred ritual and shamanic sound journeys at the fire temple, to revelling in state of the art treatment facilities and the hydrothermal suite, you will be completely nurtured in body, mind and spirit.

In true Back2Roots style, you can expect four days of adventuring from the outside-in, surrounded by the most breathtaking natural beauty. The full spectrum experience will include daily morning meditation and asana practices, workshops including ancient yogic philosophy, AcroYoga, Inversions and Thai massage, creativity and music.

Brooke grew up barefoot and by the sea, two traits which remain distinctive of her character and way of life today. A surfer, she spends plenty of time in the ocean, a love symbiotic to her way of life in yoga.

She is an internationally touring yoga teacher and co-founder of Back2Roots Retreats, hosting transformative yoga and meditation immersions in Europe, Asia and USA.

Brooke has been guided by some extraordinary teachers, schools and swamis. She has studied extensively the ancient teachings of Tantra Yoga at her school in Thailand, which are the underpinning of her teaching style. Her classes weave together the threads of traditional teachings into a dynamic style of practice to offer a slow, strong flow - a deep burn of sensory explosions, with a meditative and poetic approach.

Brooke has a dedicated practice and is constantly driven to explore and stay curious. She is an ambassador for lululemon and Nakula Organics and when she’s in Australia, teaches at Sydney’s BodyMindLife studios.

Benny Holloway is a soulful soundphile and self-taught artist based out of Byron Bay, Australia.

Through live electronic looping and weaving his voice with guitar he creates psychedelic ambient sound baths encouraging the listener on a compelling introspective journey.

His stirring and evocative tones are like sonic acupuncture, penetrating the densest layers of body and mind to encourage that deeper state of inward connection.

He has become renowned for playing live alongside Lara and Brooke, as well as other influential teachers including Shiva Rea, Janet Stone and Meghan Currie.

The second sequel to Back2Roots at Avalon, this promises be a powerful journey into the inner arts of yoga.

Try listening not with your ears but with the fleshy soles of your feet, and notice what the earth is saying with her skin. Try seeing not with your eyes but with your heart, and glimpse what radiant riches exist when you cast your vision from the very seed of your Being.  Try breathing not from your mouth but with every pore on your body, and notice how the body’s intelligence rides along the breathwave, uniting all rivers of You into the unbroken river of ecstacy within.

To move sensually means to awaken to the infinite myriad of internal senses unique to you. So much inspired input is tasted by the body and yet, most inner dialects we aren’t sensual enough to ever sense, or understanding enough to ever understand. And when we start to truly pay attention to the highest intelligence we have ~ the body’s hums and sighs and moans and huffs ~ the subtle languages of the body ~ they tell us what is right and what is to be left.

Join Brooke Elliston for a 2 hour masterclass into the Full Body Yes ~ a class of slow spinal waves and progressive heart opening, allowing expression of the profound Beingness of all forms of Yes within you.

According to ancient yogic philosophy, the mandala symbol represents the connection between microcosm and macrocosm, where the body is the link to the whole universe and practices centred around the body are a gateway towards experiencing that flow of nature inside.

Join Lara and Benny for this full-spectrum pilgrimage, incorporating slow-simmering vinyasa accompanied by a soaring live soundscape of voice and guitar, to embody the great truth that what is out there, exists also inside: breath, blood, muscles and bone are of the earth; they are the air, rivers, animals and minerals inside, not separate from, but the same.

By meditating on the body as nature, our attention is drawn to the foundations of existence and our place within the cosmos, where our yoga practice can become a call for conscious connection with ourselves, and the world around us.

Make yourself comfortable, close your eyes… listen, feel, receive…

Join Benny for a celebration of life through sound. Unifying our hearts and our voices through bhakti yoga, kirtan and powerful sound meditation.

Be prepared to lose yourself and in doing so find yourself so completely as you are saturated by an ocean of sonic vibration layered with soaring vocals and live electronic looping of acoustic and electric guitar.

This unique sonic experience is an invitation to simply sit back and receive, giving full permission for any memories or emotions to arise alongside the stirring melodies, and to be washed away by the tide of your exhale breath.
