Evoke the Goddess
Saturday 2nd May 2020
9.15am - 6.45pm
Join Ella for this special day retreat to reconnect and reinhabit your own sanctuary of experience. We join together as sisters to explore that which is already inside of us as well as all around us: Shakti.
Shakti sadhana (goddess worship) can be practiced in so many ways; it’s about intention, ritual, devotion and intuition, the ‘act’ itself is almost irrelevant. Shakti can be heard in the forest, felt in the curves and crevices of mountains and seen sitting in any open expanse. Connection to Shakti can captivate us through the sparkle in another’s eye or the sweet fragrance of a rose.
“The divine feminine has a thousand names and a thousand moods, but when she chooses to show up for you, she very often shows up as ecstasy.” Sally Kempton.
Within the fairytale-like 3000-acre playground of the Broughton Hall Estate, you will be guided through this elemental experience: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether; each an opportunity to explore how Shakti chooses to manifest. Prepare for the enchantment and awakening of the senses to dive deeply into the divine. Together we will embody the pulse of life through organic cacao meditation, free expression of movement, feminine flow, wild swimming, fire awakening, forest bathing and restorative yoga. We ride the wave of high and low energy to experience Shakti in all of her many forms, not bound by any set rules or expectations.
To evoke the goddess we step into our intuition, thereby requiring no particular previous experience; you already have everything you need. Together we will take time to focus on particular forms of Shakti; the Hindu goddesses of:
Saraswati: Goddess who flows as language, insight and sound
Durga: Warrior goddess of protection and inner strength
Radha: Goddess of romantic longing
A goddess can be wild and fierce, peaceful and gentle, caring and kind; be free to allow the flow of your own unique expression of Shakti.
Schedule of the day:

9:30am - Practice in the Nest: meditation, movement, yoga

Our special goddess menu will be gentle on the digestive system yet very nourishing through the use of medicinal herbal blends to care particularly for our female bodies.
Avalon is a brand new holistic wellbeing centre, purpose built to host the ‘Art of Being’. Just stepping into this unique space allows the body and mind to unwind.
Both our morning and evening practices will take place in the Nest. This shala is glass-walled and cantilevered, allowing us to sit in amongst the trees, overlooking the bright new colours of spring.
We are situated just a 6 minute drive from Skipton train station. Please let us know if you are getting the train and we can help to coordinate guests in order to car share the short taxi ride out to us, saving on emissions, cost and helping to make your journey easy and smooth.
