Ground & Wild at Broughton Sanctuary in Yorkshire offers participants a chance to transition out of winter with a revitalising and enriching program of experiences and classes, all set within its expansive 3,000-acre estate.
The weekend centres on cultivating resilience and stamina with our dedicated team who have been working together since 2017 on private retreats in the UK and France. They will guide you through a specially crafted schedule that includes Classical and Evolved Pilates repertoire, Breathwork, Strength and Flexibility training, personalised nutrition, wild swimming, hiking and much more; ensuring a personal focus and meaningful progress for every guest.
Ruth Eglin
Ruth Eglin’s background is in ballet and cross discipline sports. She has been teaching Pilates for 10 years, having trained with Anne Marie Zulkahari, founder of the UK Pilates Foundation. Experienced across equipment, mat, classical, rehab and advanced repertoire, Ruth’s work has led her to an understanding of the challenges that modern life throws at us; a sedentary or erratic lifestyle that results in postural issues and repeat injuries. Her interest lies in using elements of different disciplines to embed new physical patterns leading to incremental but lasting change.
Lizzie Barker
Lizzie Barker is a dedicated personal trainer specialising in women's health with 10 years of experience. She empowers women through strength training, boxing, and dynamic resistance workouts, which are crucial for maintaining bone density and muscle tone. Lizzie focuses on outdoor training, utilising natural elements to enhance physical strength.
Sonia Richards
Sonia Richards is an experienced advanced clinical and sports therapist with 30 years in the field. She treats a wide range of injuries and pain conditions using various techniques, including trigger point therapy, myofascial release techniques, and soft tissue release. Her passion for women’s health also prompted her to study nutrition and the changes that occur during menopause.
Ali Kelly
Ali Kelly is a registered Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach, with a passion for uncovering the root causes of health issues and enabling individuals to achieve optimal wellbeing.Her own health challenges led to her studying and discovering the transformative power of food, lifestyle changes and targeted supplements in addressing the underlying causes of dysfunction, not just managing symptoms.
About Broughton Sanctuary
Ground & Wild retreat will be held at the 3000-acre Broughton Sanctuary, situated in the very centre of the UK, in the foothills of The Yorkshire Dales and one of the most picturesque parts of the country. Established in 1097, Broughton Hall has been home to the Tempest family for over 900 years and enjoys a rich history stretching back over the millennium. Surrounding the historic Broughton Hall are formal gardens studded with statues, ponds, parterres and fountains offering a glimpse of 18th century fashion all set against contemporary architecture making the location a truly unique experience. The Broughton Sanctuary is home to one of Britain’s most exciting nature recovery projects, with an extensive tree-planting and rewilding programme. Broughton is a place dedicated to the journey of coming home and rewilding the spirit.
About Avalon Wellbeing
Ground & Wild retreat will take place in Avalon, the UK’s leading, state-of-the-art wellbeing centre and beating heart of Broughton Sanctuary. This stunning building is based on biophillic (organic) design with sacred geometry and the Fibonacci incorporated throughout. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to experience the unique Pool Suite: a low-chemical swimming pool looking out onto the adjacent woodland, a sauna, a steam room and hydrotherapy pool. There are many places beyond the building itself in the Sanctuary grounds to return to source, from meditation labyrinths, wild swimming reservoirs, a cosmic garden and much more.
