Working with People
A Psychology of Awakening
Sunday 18 - Friday 23 May, 2025
Working with People - A Psychology of Awakening, is a unique approach that creates a bridge between the individual as seen through the understandings of Western Humanistic Psychology and approaches to spiritual awakening with origins in various middle eastern and eastern traditions.
In the training we will lay a foundation of understanding and self-experiencing for those wanting to work with people in a truly effective way. Our perspective is that in order to actually be able to help others we must also work to heal ourselves, understand our own personal psychodynamics and have a committed spiritual practice that deepens the connection to our own Being.
In this 6-part training we will learn to discover and embody different dimensions of our Being. The subjects of those parts represent some essential aspects of ourselves, which enable us to be able to support profound transformation in others and ourselves.
In each day there will be: teaching on a particular subject, doing direct self-exploration work in a therapeutic setting, having session exchanges under supervision, experiencing meditations and teachings of specific tools for working with people.

“In these twenty-five centuries man has become so burdened with rubbish, so many wild weeds have grown in his being that I am using therapy just to clean the ground, take away the wild weeds, the roots, so the difference between the ancient man and the modern man is destroyed. The modern man has to be made as innocent as the ancient man, as simple, as natural. He has lost all these great qualities. The therapist has to help him but his work is only a preparation. It is not the end. The end part is going to be the meditation.”

Overview
Both Rafia & Turiya, over the last 35 years, have been trained in a multitude of therapeutic modalities. For a great part of that time they also received personal guidance and life-training from an enlightened master, which has given them a deep understanding and great sensitivity to the powerful, yet subtle inter-relatedness of psychological issues and the realisation of our true spiritual nature of Being. Spiritual practices, though essential for transformation, nevertheless often bypass and thus fail to transform our conditioned patterns of behaviour and the unconscious identities that arise from our personal history. The process of awakening or realisation can also be called the maturation of the human being. The first step of this maturation is the realisation of Being in its various aspects and dimensions. The second part is of actualising the awakened state into the everyday life of the human Being.
In our experience, only when we bring psychological and spiritual work together is true transformation possible. This synthesis truly enhances deep and lasting growth. With this approach we discover that every emotional and psychological issue is actually a potential doorway to grounded and embodied awakening. Conversely, spiritual experiences of our True Nature give insight into and freedom from the way our personality structure habitually functions. This approach brings the emergence of the relaxed human being that lives and participates fully in this world through a perception of awakened consciousness….a person which is in the world and yet is not of it. Thus true awakening needs psychology and true psychology needs the recognition of awakened consciousness for real transformation and integration to happen.

There, she discovered a revolutionary form of teaching from a mystic Indian man.
The sudden, unexpected death of her husband marked a turning point for Turiya. This experience deeply influenced her own personal search and how she works with people today. Her work has now evolved in bridging western tools of psychological understanding with eastern methods of meditation and transcendence. It is an East-West approach. Through her work arises deep reconciliation with Self, reconnecting one to their natural state of being and essence.

Rafia Morgan
Since 1976 Rafia Morgan has been deeply involved with spiritual and personal growth work. After completing his BA (honors) in Economics at UC Berkeley he recognized a personal need to move away from social and political action and focus on inner exploration. In 1978 he met his spiritual master and spent many years in his presence. Over the years he has passionately investigated his own inner world and has thus participated and trained in innumerable spiritual and therapeutic approaches. Since 1977 he has been conducting workshops and trainings in countries around the world. His background, enthusiasm and commitment to spiritual awakening; his love of people, of life and the discovery of human potential give him vast resources to help people in personal growth work.
For him, the Path of Love is the 'fastest, deepest vehicle for transformation that I know of'. He says, 'Nothing else I have experienced addresses so profoundly and directly the existential situation of the seeker for Truth and human beings today'.
