Nature Photography Walk for Families and Young People

This free community event on Friday 9th August 2024 has a morning session for families and children aged 6 to 11 years from 10am until 12 noon and an afternoon session for young people aged 12 to 17 years from 2pm to 4:30pm. 

Note: please book a ticket for each family member in your party, per session.


Nature Photography for Families

Session 1 | 10am to 12pm

For children aged 6 to 11yrs and their families

Start your day with a shot of nature, on a relaxing and fun photo exploration of Broughton Sanctuary’s rewilded landscapes.

Taking a gentle wander in nature, local professional photographer Rich Bunce will lead an easy-paced walk, sharing his best photography tips for the young, old, and everyone in between!

Photography offers us all a chance to stop, reflect and reimagine the worlds in front of us. A light-footed walk around the grounds is an opportunity for families to feel inspired and get creative in the diverse natural surroundings. This family event offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the diverse mix of habitats and nature here at Broughton Sanctuary while picking up some key photography tips for all your future adventures as a family!

All camera types (including phones) welcome.

Please note all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.


 

Nature Photography for Young People

Session 2 | 2pm to 4.30pm

Young People’s Nature Photography Workshop – for ages 12 to 17 years

Whether you’re doing photography at school and looking for inspiration or just enjoy taking photos on your phone, don’t miss this opportunity to explore the rewilded habitats at Broughton Sanctuary under the guidance of a professional award-winning photographer.

Aimed at young people in secondary school up to sixth form/college, this practical photography walk shares the exciting mosaic of rewilded landscapes as Rich shares his best tips for creating original and exciting photographs. This is a brilliant opportunity to learn from a local photographer actively working in the exciting field of nature photography.

Throughout the event, Rich will be sharing tips and tricks as a group but will also allow time for individual guidance and advice.

All camera types (including phones) and experience levels welcome.

 

About Rich Bunce

As a professional award-winning photographer for nearly 20 years, Rich Bunce is working increasingly with conservation and wildlife organisations, helping them use photography to engage and reach new audiences. Rich has been involved in education and outreach work through photography for many years, working with organisations like the Canal and River trusts, district councils and more to help people reconnect and reimagine their surroundings through photography. He has also been recognised in a variety of awards including the British Wildlife Photography Awards and International Garden Photographer of the Year.

This event has been funded by the White Rose Forest through their Trees for Climate programme, part of the Government’s Nature for Climate fund. The White Rose Forest is the Community Forest for North and West Yorkshire, and provides support and funding for woodland creation across the region as well as initiatives that bring people and nature closer together.
