Guided Fell Running Workshop with Craig Perkins
Guided Fell Running for Mind and Body: An Exhilarating Experience at Broughton Sanctuary
Fell running is one of the most thrilling and immersive ways to experience the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. Whether you’re completely new to the sport or have a little experience on the road, our beginners guided fell running event at Broughton Sanctuary is a very gentle, confidence boosting introduction to the sport. There will be as many rests as needed, some technique coaching, and importantly plenty of time to enjoy the countryside, breath the fresh air and raise our heart rate a little.
A Workout for the Body, Therapy for the Mind
Fell running offers a full-body workout that goes beyond physical fitness. Running in nature not only strengthens your body but also provides a host of mental health benefits. The combination of fresh air, wide-open spaces, and physical exertion can combat stress, improve mood, and help alleviate feelings of anxiety. Studies show that spending time in nature can even decrease depression and prolong your lifespan.
In today’s fast-paced, digital world, fell running is the perfect antidote to “technostress.” As you navigate the hills, valleys, and rugged terrain, you’ll find a sense of freedom and tranquillity that is hard to replicate indoors. It is another chance to escape, unplug, and reconnect with the world around you.
A Tradition Rooted in History
With over 200 years of history, fell running is one of the Yorkshire Dales’ original sports. It is not just a test of endurance, with regular fell running races and championships, it is a celebration of the region’s landscape—a place of striking contrasts, where rugged fells give way to gentle, rolling hills.
