When the weather is unpredictable, we’ll often say to ‘dress in layers’ or ‘wear layers.’
Having many layers of clothing provides a little extra resource and safety for unknown temperatures. The human body also has layers!
The skin, fascia, fat, muscle, bone, its marrow, and all the fluids of the body move and groove throughout our system to protect, drive, and feed our biology.
When we can tune into, tap into, and drop into these layers with ease, awareness, and intention, we become a little more masterful at true somatic embodiment…
This retreat experience is all about embracing the dark (days) and staying contained within our (body) layers — using the power of intentional movement, or what Irene calls Feldenkraisian learning* as a vehicle to get to know our own body and its many layers.
*What’s unique about Feldenkraisian learning is that it brings us back to our natural movement ‘roots’—how we might explore and learn as healthy babies and toddlers. When we do this as adults, we re-learn how to stay curious and attentive to the present moment and discover how we can make our movement as efficient, as aligned, as ease-ful and as delicious as possible.
Feldenkraisian learning was the beginning of Irene’s own healing story, and many of her students have referred to it as the missing link in their journey towards deeper well-being.
Irene’s mastery of Feldekraisian movement practices, combined with her nervous system expertise, supports your capacity to access your natural boundaries and improve your emotional intelligence (because those emotions live in your body and in your tissues)!
This is a rare opportunity to work with Irene directly in a powerful group format while also getting individualized attention during practical debriefs of the movement lessons…
All Inclusive Pricing Includes:
- All practices and movements will require participants to be able to comfortably lie on the ground on their back, side, and front. Ability to get down to the ground and back up again, unaided and with ease, will be essential for this workshop.
- While Irene will be open to questions about the nervous system, trauma healing, and other aspects of theory, the predominant focus here will be Feldenkraisian movement practice, personal exploration, and developing a mini-movement practice one can take with them.
- This workshop is not intended as a replacement for psychotherapy or medical treatment.
- Irene will not be available for personal consultation or private sessions during this workshop.

Avalon Wellbeing Centre
Avalon Wellbeing was conceived by Paris Ackrill and Roger Tempest to serve the inner voyage of mind, body, spirit, a return to source and, ultimately, a reason for being. With its dramatic expression of curves, colours and encoded crystals, Avalon’s biophilic design was the work of Yiangou Architects and interior designer Patrick Kinmonth.
Declared by Ruby Wax as “the coolest place I’ve ever been to’, it brings one-of-a-kind modern inspiration to an ancient setting.
As well as a swimming pool, sauna, steam room (hydromassage pool), state-of-the art studio spaces, personal training studios, crystal light bed and Somadome meditation pod, the Centre acts as the beating heart of residential retreats. Daily yoga and meditation sessions are available as well as events, workshops and an outstanding team of experienced therapists and healers. Experience everything from Acupuncture, Shamanic healing and psychotherapy to herbal medicine, trauma release, varying forms of bodywork and sound baths.
